My client is a leading Tier 1 manufacturer of engine components. Founded over 100 years ago and employing 600 people with six plants, a technical center and headquarters in western suburbs of Detroit, MI. My client operates in three countries, including four US States, the company is well known and highly regarded in its served markets.
Duties
Plans, coordinates, and directs quality engineering, process control activities to ensure continuous production of products consistent with established standards by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.
Oversees all Quality Functions including serving as Voice of the Customer and Lead for all Customer and TS Audits.
Develops and analyzes statistical data and product specifications to determine present standards and establish proposed quality and reliability expectancy of finished product.
Formulates and maintains quality control objectives and coordinates objectives with production procedures in cooperation with other plant managers to maximize product reliability and minimize costs.
Directs workers engaged in inspection and part layout activities to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities, and products.
Plans, promotes, and organizes training activities related to product quality and reliability.
Investigates and adjusts customer complaints regarding quality.
Advanced product quality planning (APQP) for new parts / product launches.
Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Required
Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; or Associates Degree in Quality or Mechanical Engineering with 5 years experience; or 10 years related experience with a Certified Quality Engineer’s certificate; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Proficient in Statistical Process Control (SPC), Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), and QS-9000 standards combined with knowledge of corrective actions, team problem solving, and general quality practices.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures and processes.
Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts to such tasks as frequency distribution, statistical methods, sampling theory and failure mode effects analysis.
Experience in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement (Kaizen)
Strong team building and leadership skills, proven record developing talent
Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Green - Black Belt knowledge
Machining operations experience (CNC)
Experienced developing and managing business goals & metrics, and achieving year-over-year improvements
