Role Summary
We are seeking a Lead Electronics Hardware Engineer to drive schematic creation, circuit layout, and functional prototyping for next-generation vehicle electronic control modules. This technical expert will possess extensive experience architecting power electronics, body control modules, powertrain controllers, and advanced energy management electronics. The candidate will be responsible for bringing complex automotive electronic sub-systems from initial design concepts through rigorous OEM environmental and electromagnetic validation.
Core Objectives
Deliver hardware documentation and process artifacts in full compliance with ASPICE HWE standards (Level 2 maturity).
Achieve flawless product rollouts with zero hardware design flaws post-launch.
Provide technical leadership, coaching, and mentoring to accelerate the development of mid-level and junior hardware design staff.
Key Responsibilities
Architect, simulate, and prototype automotive electronic control units (ECUs), managing both schematic capture and PCB layout strategies.
Apply advanced analog, digital, and high-current power circuit design principles to meet stringent product specifications.
Establish hardware architectures and select active/passive components balancing cost targets, performance, and manufacturability (DFM).
Direct comprehensive hardware validation protocols, including EMI/EMC compliance testing, thermal dynamics, vibration profiling, and accelerated life testing.
Direct technical interfacing with vehicle OEMs and independent test labs to ensure strict alignment with customer specifications.
Lead root-cause failure analysis and implement corrective actions for prototype anomalies or field warranty issues.
Generate and manage core engineering deliverables, including DFMEAs, DVPRs, and formal engineering release documentation.
Target Qualifications
Education: B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related technical field (Master’s preferred).
Experience: 15+ years dedicated to automotive circuit design for high-volume manufacturing environments.
Domain Expertise: Demonstrated history designing ECU hardware, power electronics, and microcontroller-based embedded architectures for Tier-1 suppliers or vehicle manufacturers.
Networking & Protocols: Thorough understanding of vehicle communication networks (CAN, LIN, FlexRay, Automotive Ethernet).
Validation Standards: Deep proficiency in EMC/EMI standards (e.g., CISPR 25, ISO 11452) and environmental durability specs (e.g., ISO 16750, IEC 60068).
Functional Safety: Working familiarity with ISO 26262 functional safety requirements and IPC layout standards.
Technical Tooling: Advanced proficiency in ECAD applications (Altium, Mentor Graphics, OrCAD), simulation software (PSPICE, MathCad), and lab equipment (Oscilloscopes, VNAs, LCR meters).
