My client is a large, international, predictably stable, tier-1 automotive supplier known world-wide as the leader in their cutting-edge products. They continue to set a higher bar in their technology by consistently patenting clever innovations. In support of these new technologies, my client has opened a new Mechatronics Department and is looking to staff up!

Adding talented professionals for their current growth-oriented positions is my job. My agency is searching for experienced Validation Engineers and Research and Development Engineers with a STRONG focus in Mechatronics.

To Research, Design, Validate, and Produce my client’s products, my candidates must have a very diverse set of skills: Engineering disciplines including but not limited to Electrical and Electronics, Thermal, Optics, Materials, Mechanics, and hands-on Test Equipment. Furthermore, great people for these openings will be family-first, open, communicative, Team Players, and have the adaptive, creative and innovative mindset to “MacGyver” their way through a problem when the opportunity requires it.

FUNCTIONS

  • Ownership of the validation and testing of mechatronic products

  • DUT (Device Under Test) monitoring and documentation throughout testing cycles

  • Expertly observe, document, troubleshoot, and report test failures

  • Create and store test reports into appropriate Company and customer databases

  • Ensure test equipment is maintained and accurate

  • Identify and design test methodologies, equipment and systems including outsourcing of tests when required

  • Root cause test failures by driving the failure analysis

  • Alignment of customer testing requirements with internal goals and objectives regarding cost, timing and quality

  • Execution of specified tests with appropriate test equipment and technicians

  • Ensuring safe and functional products are released to production through the proper validation process

EXPERIENCE

(more than 3 years of experience)

  • Automotive industry (tier-1 supplier, OEM or equipment manufacturer)

  • Systems integration of electronics and mechanical components… mechatronics or electromechanical systems in a product development role

  • Working directly with automotive OE engineers

  • Troubleshooting/debugging failed components and systems

  • Developing and negotiating DVP&R tests with customer

  • Specify test equipment to ensure all requirements are tested/validated precisely

  • Purchase/build test equipment

TECHNICAL

Must have skills:

  • Basic capability in programming or coding

  • Intermediate to expert capability in MS Office especially Excel

  • Intermediate capability in technical report writing

  • Intermediate capability in data analysis and graphical representation of data

  • Intermediate to advanced capability in basic test equipment such as digital multimeter, climate chambers and data acquisition equipment

  • Basic experience with vehicle network protocols such as CAN and LIN

  • Basic understanding of embedded microcontrollers

  • Understanding of package and handling norms for electronic modules such as ESD safety

  • Intermediate project management skills (i.e., timing, planning, budgeting, etc.)

Hopefully has skills:

  • Experience with OEM product development systems

  • Programming or coding LabVIEW, Vector tools, Vehicle Spy

  • Experience with Airbag, Seat Belt, Steering Wheels, capacitive sensing and/or in-vehicle electric heating

  • MATLAB / Mathcad

  • Optics

  • Cradle to grave product development experience

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline (Mechatronics – Electronics preferred, if Mechanical must have heavy mechatronics/electronics experience)
